Monique's approach to care and community has been shaped by profound personal experience. For years, she visited her grandparents in their care facility while they navigated dementia. She watched her young daughter learn to walk in their communal lounge, holding onto her Oma's walker, while other residents looked on with joy. Through these visits, she witnessed firsthand how genuine care extends well beyond medical needs—it's about preserving dignity, nurturing moments of connection and showing up with humanity.
These experiences taught her that small, thoughtful actions can ripple out to create profound change, and that leadership is fundamentally grounded in compassion. It's precisely this understanding that we believe will strengthen our village in the years ahead.
Looking forward, Monique shares our excitement about the community centre development, which will serve not just our residents but the wider Kerikeri community.
