Kerikeri Village

Rave reviews for ‘Crumbs!’ set the stage for more movie making

The two-minute, seven-second ‘whodunnit?’ shot in black and white is a rip-off of the Agatha Christie genre, even featuring its own Hercule Poirot who brings the production to a close by pointing an unwavering finger at the thief and barking out, in Poirot’s inimitable style: “J’accuse!” Check it out on our Facebook page, if you haven’t done so already.

The video was the brainchild of our diversional therapists Bernadette Waller and Sandra Trafford. It was scripted and produced by one of our village drivers, the talented Harley Alexander, with help from maintenance supervisor Anthony Chandler-Royle. And it stars the members of our social club, who are drawn from both the village and the surrounding community.

There is a serious point to this, and it’s about the importance to any elderly in aged care of fun activities, ongoing learning and engaging things to do. Importantly, these things don’t have to be bigger than Ben-Hur (and Lord knows ‘Crumbs!’ isn’t) for them to be effective. Our team and the stars of the show have now been well and truly bitten by the movie bug and the community’s response has delighted them. So stand by for more!
