Kerikeri Village

Warm welcome for Village’s new Clinical Manager

We at Kerikeri Retirement Village have been remiss in not yet welcoming publicly our new Clinical Manager, Kathy Renner. She is responsible for delivery of all the clinical care we provide to the 66 people in our rest home, total care and dementia care units.

The Village has 23 registered nurses, more than 50 healthcare assistants, and 30-plus therapy and support staff delivering this care, so Kathy’s role is a demanding one.

Before joining us Kathy spent five years with BUPA NZ. She was involved with the clinical management of its facilities in Tauranga and Hamilton, the commissioning and setting up of new care homes, and with staff education and assessment.

She is a Registered Nurse and has served in intensive care, accident and emergency, and orthopaedic wards. She also has experience in palliative and psychogeriatric care.

Kathy has a particular interest in Continuing Professional Development (CPD). She recently completed the Designated Senior Nurse Manager Professional Development Recognition Programme. This is an acknowledgement that her professional skills and capability are such that she can renew her Annual Practising Certificate without random audit by the Nursing Council of New Zealand.

She will be heading our drive to ensure that all relevant staff reach and maintain the level of professional development.

On a personal level Kathy loves cooking, gardening and fishing.  She is an avid entertainer and also enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and four children.

Please join us in welcoming this fabulous addition to our team.
